Over 4,000 caves have been discovered so far in the Frankenjura. This makes the region one of the most cave-rich karst areas in Germany. Two climbers from Munich accompany a group of speleologists into the underworld: Abseiling down the 30-meter-deep shaft by the light of a headlamp takes some courage. But once you’ve descended, the view opens up—into the past, into the climate, and into a whole new dimension.
