In climbing circles, Robert Jasper—known as the “Eigerman”—is world-famous, but few in the general public know him. The extreme mountaineer from the Black Forest has climbed 30 different routes on the notorious north face of the Eiger in the Bernese Oberland, spending a total of over a year on the wall. He also put “Odyssey”—the most difficult route on the Eiger—to his credit. "His ice climbing has inspired an entire generation," says professional climber Alexander Huber in praise of him. And Swiss professional mountaineer Roger Schäli calls his longtime climbing partner "by far the most well-rounded mountaineer in Germany."
In 2025, Jasper set out by bike for “his” wall for the first time to attempt the “Porte du Chaos” route solo. Bergauf Bergab
: Cameraman Julian Bückers spent the night with him on the face, and director Malte Roeper knows the mountaineering expert from their shared expeditions. A fascinating character study featuring spectacular images of the Eiger North Face—and a look back at a mountaineering career that is second to none.
